Migrating enterprise integrations to the Cloud

Many of our customers use automated exchange of information via specialised systems, which we also refer to as an integration platform, to work efficiently. This integration platform has become the backbone of enterprise-wide information systems for most of them. Using the integration platform, enterprise systems are able to talk to each other in a way that they understand each other and exchange information as one big common system. Such a system uses special technologies based on technology standards that ensure secure interconnection of systems and reliable and guaranteed information exchange.

Throughout our company’s history, we have helped build dozens of such integrated systems, most of which are built on SAP technology. Today, these systems provide for the transfer of millions of data required for the day-to-day operation of key information systems of even the most important businesses or institutions in our region.

Just as the generational renewal of SAP technology for ERP systems is coming today in the form of the S/4HANA product, so too is the generational replacement of the technology used for the integration area. Such a massive replacement of technology for key enterprise systems doesn’t happen all that often, so the opportunity to “be there” is a really interesting challenge for us as well. It’s been almost 20 years since we helped implement the very first SAP integration platform in Slovakia. Today, after implementing dozens of such systems, we will gradually help transfer their functionality to a modern cloud environment, and we will slowly shut down these legacy systems that we helped build over the years. But there is no need to be sad about it. As part of the generational change of products, new and modern technologies are coming along, bringing new opportunities for us and especially for the customer to improve the efficiency, reliability and security of integrations. In fact, the new generation of products is aimed at more efficient development and deployment of new types of integrations and standardized interconnections. While this provides much greater opportunities for simplifying and streamlining work, it also increases the demands on expertise and experience with new technologies. And what about security? Since today’s world can no longer function without 100% security, a high level of security is now commonplace in the new generation of products and available as a new-age standard. In addition, cloud integration means systems can be easily scalable and adaptable to changing business needs, which is key to staying competitive in today’s rapidly evolving digital world.

👉 And how difficult is it to replace current technologies for integrations with new ones?

Thanks to our long experience with integrations, we are currently one of the three partners in Central Europe that offers a service in the SAP FRE service catalogue to assess the readiness of the actual migration from the current SAP PI/PO technology to the cloud environment of SAP Integration Suite. The advantage of the SAP Integration Suite cloud product is the possibility to use the tool for automated transfer of integrations. This tool can accelerate and simplify the transfer of current setups to the new integration platform, even if only some selected technologies.

Today, based on a few meetings with the customer, we can do a basic analysis and classification of the current state so that we can expertly answer to what extent the customer’s current integration scenarios are ready for migration. To do this, we offer a “Migration Assessment” service for our customers, the main task of which is precisely to assess the readiness of the migration from SAP PI/PO to SAP Integration Suite. Based on our service, the customer gets answers to important questions:

👉 Which integration scenarios are ready for automated migration?

👉 Which integration scenarios are partially ready and will need to be modified?

👉 Which integration scenarios cannot be migrated and will need to be completely reworked before the actual migration?

After answering these questions, the customer can estimate in detail the necessary cost and scope that will be required for the actual migration to a modern cloud environment. This way, the customer will get all the information needed to plan the migration to the next generation SAP product and choose the right vendor, like us 😊.

👉 To help our customers make the right decision and prepare for this change well in advance, the “Migration Assessment” service to assess the readiness of migration from SAP PI/PO to SAP Integration Suite is currently provided by our company ORIWIN, s.r.o. for its customers completely free of charge 🚀.
