How to Integrate AI into an Enterprise System? Part II
In this post, we follow up on our previous newsletter and continue with more interesting insights about AI and its integration into enterprise information systems.
We already know that SAP Business AI is a technology specifically designed for enterprise systems. Its core principles are security, compliance, ethics, and trust. Moreover, as of this year, it is available directly within the SAP BTP technological environment.
Today’s topic focuses on AI Business Services, which have been developed based on SAP’s own best practices. Developers can incorporate these proven AI capabilities into their applications, knowing that these AI models have been pretrained and validated on business-relevant data.
Currently, these Business AI services can be divided into three main categories:
👉 Information Extraction from Documents:
This service uses machine learning to automate the extraction of information directly from documents. It helps process large volumes of business documents that contain data in headers or tables. You can use it, for example, to automatically process invoices and payment notes, ensuring that invoices and payments match. Once the document is uploaded, the service returns extracted data from header fields and line items.
👉 Recommendations to Improve Decision-Making:
The Personalized Recommendation and Data Attribute Recommendation services provide highly personalized suggestions based on browsing history or item descriptions. These services help accelerate data management processes and improve data consistency and accuracy. They draw insights from user behavior patterns and metadata to provide tailored recommendations for each individual user. Multiple users interacting with the same item in a live system will receive different suggestions based on their unique interaction history.
👉 Business Data Recognition:
This service helps identify and highlight any type of business-relevant data directly from unstructured text. For example, it can be used to automatically extract context from incoming emails related to invoice inquiries and to automate repetitive tasks such as responding to questions about invoice status and payments.
In addition to these prebuilt services provided by SAP, it’s also possible to create custom AI business services tailored to specific needs. That’s why we at @ORIWIN have started developing custom extensions and new AI features that can be used across various business areas.
